Wanli approaches photography with the discipline of an engineer and the instincts of an impressionist painter. She is especially drawn to landscapes, changing light and the quieter rhythms of the natural world. A Beijing native, she works primarily in color and is deeply attentive to atmosphere and season.
Patrick spent most of his career as a newsman with The Associated Press and covered such stories as a young Bill Clinton, the Oklahoma City bombing and the 9-11 terrorist attack in Manhattan from Ground Zero. He photographs in black and white with a documentary eye shaped by that experience. He is drawn to the humanist traditions of Dorothea Lange, Walker Evans and Robert Frank.
Together, they have documented life in China since 2010.
